Quinn: Blago Indictment "Sad" -- DOWNLOAD AUDIO HERE
Gov. Pat Quinn called Thursday a "sad day for the people of Illinois." The governor spoke a little over an hour after the indictment against ex-Gov. Rod Blagojevich was handed up by a grand jury.

Quinn reassured Illinoisans that he remains committed to reforming government. He called political reform in Illinois a "historic mission."

Quinn commended U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald for his hard work. Quinn added that as Lt. Governor, he had no knowledge of any of the alleged activities of those indicted.

Blagojevich was indicted Thursday on 19 counts, 16 of which are felony counts including racketeering conspiracy, wire fraud, extortion conspiracy, attempted extortion and making false statements to federal agents. Also indicted were Blagojevich's former chief of staff John Harris, lobbyist Alonzo Monk, Blagojevich's brother and campaign fund chairman Robert, fundraiser Chris Kelly and Springfield businessman Bill Cellini Sr.

All six defendants will be arraigned on dates yet to be determined by a federal judge in Chicago.
