Galesburg Men Arrested on Weapons and Drug Charges
posted 9:55 a-m, 4/23/09 Two local men are behind bars after a search warrant executed at their home early Thursday morning allegedly netted a stash of guns and drugs.

Galesburg police say they and the Illinois State Police Tactical Response Team arrested 36-year old Donald Reed and 33-year old Ronald Smith around 5:30 a-m at their residence at 202 Blaine Avenue. Authorities say a search of the home turned up three firearms, five grams of methamphetamine, heroin, syringes, 15 grams of cannabis and meth manufacturing materials.

Reed was arrested for unlawful possession of firearms by a convicted felon, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine and on three outstanding warrants. Smith was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of heroin and on a McDonough County warrant.

Both Reed and Smith are being held in the Knox County Jail awaiting their initial court appearances. Police say the investigation continues and more arrests are pending.
