WGIL Honored With AP Awards
WGIL was honored Saturday night by its Illinois peers in the broadcast journalism industry.

WGIL was recognized by the Illinois Associated Press Broadcasters Association Saturday night as the AP's Illinois Station of the Year for 2008. WGIL News Director Will Stevenson was also honored as the AP's "Newsfinder of the Year" for his work sharing WGIL's news coverage with the Associated Press. WGIL's News and Sports Departments include News Director Will Stevenson, Reporter Dominic Fortini and Sports Director/News Reporter Mike Perry.

WGIL was one of a number of Illinois radio and television stations, commercial and non-commercial, professionally-run and student-run, honored during the Illinois News Broadcasters Association's Spring Convention Saturday night at the new I Hotel in Champaign. The three-day conference ends Sunday.
