City of Galesburg Announces Annual Auction Date
There may be some bargains to be had at the City of Galesburg's annual auction next month.

The auction will be held at 9:30 am Saturday, May 2nd, 2009 at Hawthorne Park Maintenance Building at Hawthorne Centre, 2110 Veterans Drive.

The maintenance building will be open at 9:00 am to allow viewing of the items to be auctioned. Included in the auction will be obsolete equipment, miscellaneous personal property and approximately 200 bicycles. All items are sold "as is and where is." Hannam's Auction service will conduct the auction and the number system will be used.

Some of the items are personal property that has not been retrieved by the rightful owner. The items up for auction could have been confiscated items, recovered stolen items or items found on public property.

If a person believes they have property that could be up for auction, they may contact Sgt. Paul Vanakken either before the auction or on the day of the auction during the preview period. Owners should be prepared to provide evidence of ownership such as serial numbers, description of unique markings, or some other irrefutable evidence of ownership.
