OSF Saint Mary Medical Center Employees Go "Green" for Good Cause
Cardiology services stand to benefit from an employee campaign at OSF St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg.

Employees at the hospital have contributed over $55,000 to the OSF St. Mary Foundation through the 2009 Caring-Sharing Employee Campaign. The theme for this year's campaign was, "Plant your heart around our community of caregivers," signifying the fact that the money raised will be used to purchase new equipment for Cardiology Services. To further draw on this year's theme, everyone who donated to the campaign received a reusable tote bag and an evergreen seedling.

"We really want everyone to focus on "Going Green" and making our facility and the community a better place to live," says Myranda Vaupel, Campaign Committee Chairperson. "We hope our employees plant their seedlings, not only to remember their contribution to the campaign, but to put a little more "green" into our community."

"Since 1994, OSF St. Mary Employees have given a half-million dollars to the medical center through the employee campaign," says Linda Hawkins, Foundation Director. "The commitment our employees continue to demonstrate, not only for the medical center, but for the community, is tremendous and falls right in line with our mission of serving every patient with the greatest care and love."

The campaign committee held an Employee Campaign Celebration on April 22nd - Earth Day - to stress the importance of giving to the 2009 Caring-Sharing Employee Campaign and to the community.
