GOP Reaction to Blago Indictment
Illinois Republicans want the best for the state, and they also want to return to power at the State Capitol. Reacting to Thursday's indictment of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich, State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington) called it "a sick day. It’s also a tragedy when it has to come to an indictment like this to get the Democrats to look at cleaning up what they know has been poisoned in state government." Brady also wants to be Illinois' next governor, having already announced for next year's election.

House Minority Leader Tom Cross (R-Oswego) says rather than think outside the box to develop new approaches, "we need to throw the box away." State Rep. Bill Black (R-Danville) says for all the talk of reform, it's the controlling Democrats in the House who won't give his party’s reform bills a hearing, and State Rep. Ron Stephens (R-Greenville) went a step further: saying if House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) wants to remove pension fund directors by claiming "guilt by association," he should look at the fact he was a Blagojevich campaign chairman.

Republican Senator Dale Risinger of Peoria issued an official statement to the indictment. He said it clearly shows that "those who live by the sword are inevitably brought down by the very same sword. It's unfortunate that a culture of corruption has hung like a dark cloud over the people's business for more than six years."
