Dems on Blago Indictment: "Sad," "About Time"
Democrats at the Illinois Capitol claimed they were too busy working to read the indictment against former Governor Rod Blagojevich, although many computers were fixed on the documents.

The comments range from "sad, but expected," to "it's about time." One of the new allegations, that Blagojevich demanded cash for his own use, rather than just for his campaign fund, surprised some of the Democrats. Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago) says if that’s true, then it's worse than he thought.

House Speaker Madigan (D-Chicago) had little to say, as usual, but when asked about the claim about money for Blagojevich's pockets, he said "I didn't know he was that dumb."

Lawmakers say one silver lining is that Blagojevich is gone. They point out that the passed a mini-construction and transit bill just two months after Blagojevich was thrown out of office. Such a program never passed during the six years that Blagojevich was in office.
