Political Expert: Blago Indictment a Career-Builder
Political experts across Illinois weren't surprised that the federal government handed down their indictment of former governor Rod Blagojevich on Thursday.

In fact, University of Illinois at Springfield professor emeritus Kent Redfield sees the Blagojevich Administration as a career-building opportunity. As someone who's been involved with politics for decades, he says he never imagined part of his job description would be speed reading federal indictments, but he says he's gotten pretty good at it.

Redfield says jail time for the former governor is inevitable, but specifically how much is still up in the air. The U.S. Attorney handed down 19 counts, including racketeering, wire fraud and false statements, and Blagojevich was charged with 16 of them. Each of the more serious charges comes with a $250,000 fine plus 20 years in prison, which means if he's convicted of all 16 counts, he could face more than 300 years.
