Spring Makes Way for Brief Return of 'Winter' in Illinois
posted 8:15 a-m, 4/5/09 The National Weather Service says storms approaching Illinois will bring rain, sleet, or snow to most parts of the state.

The Service reports widely scattered thunderstorms are expected throughout Illinois Sunday morning, with some storms possibly becoming severe in the southeastern part of the state.

Rain and sleet will turn to snow in the Chicago area by Sunday night, with accumulations of up to 5 inches.

Locally, the forecast calls for rain and a chance of thunderstorms Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon brings a chance of snow and sleet, but little to no accumulation is expected. Up to an inch of snow and sleet is possible Sunday night through early Monday morning, and the low temperature should fall below the freezing mark at 30 degrees.

There's also a chance of snow on Monday, although not much if any accumulation is forecasted.
