IDOT Related Moves on Galesburg City Council Agenda
The next to last meeting for the current Galesburg City Council seems to be an easy one.

There are no major items on the agenda for Monday night's regular council meeting -- just a day before the consolidated municipal elections will result in a new mayor and possibly new aldermen.

Aldermen will consider several agreements with the Illinois Department of Transportation for road resurfacing. One will result in Carl Sandburg Drive getting a makeover from Broad Street to 500 feet west of North Seminary Street. The other will see Knox Street resurfaced from Day Street to Grand Avenue, along with some curb work.

Both agreements will be paid for with federal stimulus dollars totaling about one-million dollars, and will be handled by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Two items up on first reading and will not be voted on Monday night include items to be put up for bid in the annual city auction of surplus property, and the other is an annual vote aldermen must take related to bonding authority.

The Galesburg City Council meets at 7:30 inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
