New Faces on Monmouth City Council, Monmouth-Roseville School Board
Two members of the Monmouth City Council saw their re-election bids denied by the voters.

Dan Burgland was vying for another term in Ward 1 and Rod Themanson sought re-election in Ward 4. Newcomer Jaime Godina, who served as an assistant soccer coach at Carl Sandburg College last season, defeated Themanson by a 56 to 44 percent margin - or a difference of 129 votes. Tim Heatherly won easily over Bergland with 74 percent of the votes cast for the race.

Two incumbents return to the city council after they ran unopposed. Vicki McNamara will continue to represent Ward 3 and Dave Bates, who was appointed last year after former alderman Dave Giles stepped down, won his first full term on the council.

The Monmouth-Roseville School Board is losing an incumbent. Mary Kelly, Mark Colclasure, Lynne Shimmin and Jerry Kinney won seats. Kelly is a newcomer to the board, Colclasure is an incumbent and Kinney has served on the board in the past.

Incumbent Frank Doyle fell short by 23 votes in his bid to continue on the school board.
