"Sticker Shock" at Liquor Stores
Teens in liquor stores looking at bottles, cans, and cases of alcohol. Trouble? No, not this time.

Groups of teenagers have been working with government officials and store owners as part of Project Sticker Shock. For the last week, these groups have visited dozens of stores across Illinois, and have distributed stickers, signs, posters, and other materials in the attempt to publicize underage drinking laws.

Bill Fleischli, executive vice president of the Illinois Association of Convenience Stores, says these visits make a big difference, especially since the teens have so much influence on store workers, who respect the teens for taking a stand against underage drinking.

Compliance with underage drinking laws jumped from 76 percent to 87 percent over the last year.
