Officials Claim Immunity From Freed Man's Claims
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (AP) -- Attorneys for two former central Illinois prosecutors and a retired detective say their clients should be immune from a lawsuit filed against them by a man whose murder conviction was overturned.

Attorneys for former McLean County prosecutors Charles Reynard and James Souk and retired sheriff's Detective John Brown say a court decision in another case shields them from Alan Beaman's lawsuit. Reynard and Souk are now county judges.

Beaman sued the three along with the county, the city of Normal and several other past and current police officers who investigated the 1993 killing of Illinois State University student Jennifer Lockmiller.

Beaman spent 13 years in prison for her death. The Illinois Supreme Court freed him in 2008.
