Young Pianists Competition Winners Announced
The Knox-Galesburg Symphony's 17th annual Young Pianists Competition sponsored by Carl Sandburg College was held on Saturday, April 3, on the College campus.

This year's judges were Dr. Bruce Polay, artistic director/conductor of the Knox-Galesburg Symphony and professor of music at Knox College, and Mr. Bryan Shilander, pianist, accompanist and teacher at the Metropolis School of Performing Arts in Chicago.

Winners of the competition were:
Luke Acerra, Galesburg; Carli Brucker, Dahinda; Morgan Carlson, Galesburg; Natalie Nelson, Rio; Ashley Qualls, Galesburg; Lucas Shroyer, Galesburg; and Lauren White, Galesburg.

Competitors receiving Honorable Mention:
Brittany Chatterton, Avon; Kathleen Hall, Knoxville; AJ Pamatmat, Galesburg; Nathan Puthenveetil, Galesburg; Gerard Remmes, Galesburg; Isabelle Rhee, Galesburg; Emma Rush, Galesburg; Isabella Qualls, Galesburg; Morgan Skinner, Knoxville; Jordan Shroyer, Galesburg; and Jenna Welch, Alpha.

As part of the Music Mornings program at the Orpheum Theatre, winners are invited to perform on the KGS concert soloist's nine-foot Steinway piano, which is underwritten by Carl Sandburg College, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 17. Competition winners and honorable mentions will perform on Knox College's nine-foot Steinway in a recital on Sunday, May 2, at 3 p.m. in Kresge Recital Hall at Knox College.
