|ROWVA Team Advances in State Tournament
|ROWVA School District's "Destination Imagination" team competed along with 80 teams from throughout Illinois Saturday, and were awarded 2nd place in the middle school level competition. They are now one two teams from Illinois that will proceed to the Global Finals at the University of Tennessee. They will compete May 26 - 29 along with 1,000 teams from across the U.S. and 30 countries. Over 19,000 people are expected to attend Global Finals this year.
Destination ImagiNation, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides educational programs for over 100,000 students each year to learn and experience creativity, teamwork and problem solving. It is an after-school activity in which students work in teams to solve mind-bending Challenges and present their solutions at tournaments.
This is the second year ROWVA has participated in Destination Imagination. Team members include Montana Carlson, Emily Hennenfent, Morgan McKee, Brent Nelson and Wesley Anderson all 8th graders at ROWVA Junior High in Oneida, IL.
The underpinnings of Destination ImagiNation’s work in creativity, teamwork and problem solving were developed in collaboration with the world-renowned Center for Creative Learning. Today, Destination ImagiNation has an extensive global network and a devoted staff to carry out its programs.
