Remap Meeting at State Capitol Monday
This could be a long night at the Capitol. The Illinois Senate Redistricting Committee is holding a hearing on the five redistricting proposals that are before the Senate, and committee members will vote on each of those proposals.

Redistricting may be a dry subject, but it's a priority this year because lawmakers redraw the lines every 10 years, just after the census numbers come out.

Four of the five proposals up for discussion tonight are sponsored by Republicans. One is sponsored by Democrats. Democratic staffers are trying to get the word out about their proposal, and about what they consider to be problems in the other plans. Senate Democratic staffer Ron Holmes wants everyone to pay close attention to the details of each plan, hinting that the Republicans' plans all have a little party politics within them.

The committee hearing starts at 4 p.m Monday. The full Senate and House don't return to the Capitol from spring break until Tuesday.
