Deadline for Illinois Museum Grants Nears
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- State officials say grant money is available for public museums in Illinois to improve facilities and new exhibits.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the deadline for eligible museums to apply is May 21. The agency administers the Illinois Public Museum Capital Grants Program.

A total of $15 million is available for the 2010 fiscal year.

Marc Miller is the director of the natural resources department. He says museums play a vital role in helping students families and visitors better understand Illinois' culture and history.
