Man Seriously Injured in Fulton County Crash
An Ipava man had to be airlifted to a Peoria hospital over the weekend following a single-vehicle accident near Lewistown.

Fulton County deputies say the crash happened minutes after 9 p-m Saturday on Route 24 at Isaak Walton Road, one-quarter mile south of Summon. Authorities say their preliminary investigation indicates 32-year old Andrew Batterton was eastbound on Route 24 at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his vehicle and drove off the road. Officials say he was ejected from his vehicle and was taken by Fulton County Ambulance to Lewistown. From there Batterton was Life Flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Batterton remained hospitalized in serious condition last night. Police cited him for driving on a revoked license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of open alcohol in a motor vehicle and DUI.

Assisting Fulton County deputies at the scene were Astoria Rescue, Lewistown Rescue and Fulton County Ambulance. Deputies say the accident remains under investigation and more charges are pending.
