New Business Officially Open in Downtown Galesburg -- SEND WGIL YOUR BUSINESS NEWS
FIRST REPORTED 12:00pm 4/15/10 Downtown Galesburg has a brand new business, and it might be a good thing for anyone looking to take a run.

Nick and Tracy Pigg opened up "Go Outside and Play" Thursday morning -- The Piggs opened the athletic and running apparel store next to Stone Alley Books and Collectibles on South Seminary Street, and are tentatively planning to be open six days a week and other times by appointment.

Nick Pigg tells WGIL the reason for opening up a store to sell such items along with nutritional supplements is simple.

"We wanted to open up a business like that because none of these products are anywhere in Galesburg. I'm constantly purchasing that -- always somewhere out of town or over the net to get it," Pigg said. "Why (Seminary Street)? ... We just liked the area, thought it fit the location. Good foot traffic, and we're excited about it."

Pigg says he's already made a few bucks from the store; he says there were people waiting outside for him to open up Thursday morning.

The Piggs moved to Galesburg from Missouri several years ago, and decided to open up "Go Outside and Play" after Nick Pigg left a job as a sales manager at another local firm.

The City recently gave the Piggs a revolving loan to help open their business, and they also recently received a Business Innovation Grant.
