Reform Commission Chair Not a Fan of Springfield
The man who sent a former Illinois governor to jail says the next trial of an ex-governor will hinge on his own testimony. Patrick Collins, a former federal prosecutor who later headed the Illinois Reform Commission, bemoaned what he called the "Soprano-ization" of politics during an after-dinner speech in Oak Brook over the weekend.

Collins says the watering-down of the reform commission's proposals, and low turnout in this year's primary, show him that Illinois citizens are simply not ready for reform. Collins says those in power realize there is no public appetite for, say, campaign finance reform -- that the public, and the news media, seem to pay more attention to former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's reality-TV appearances.

Collins says people are so desensitized that they expect corruption in Illinois government -- "fraud fatigue," he calls it.
