City Council to Get Tour of Building
The Galesburg City Council will get the chance to tour a building the city wants to purchase, but aldermen have had plenty of questions on.

Aldermen, as part of a work session Monday night, will eventually adjourn the session and travel to 200 South Henderson Street, the site of the building the city has been trying to purchase so it can be converted into a Public Works facility.

Aldermen tabled purchasing the building earlier this month, with some aldermen either questioning the cost of the project, or saying that it won't work for what the city wants to do it.

The city wants to consolidate all its public works equipment and facilities into one general area, and it wants to use part of the land the site sits on so it can build a facility to store its winter road salt supply.

Aldermen prior to heading to the session will hear a presentation on this year's Railroad Days event, and will get a presentation from the Galesburg-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The meeting starts at 6:30pm Monday in the Erickson Conference Room at City Hall, due to technical upgrades being made in council chambers.
