Durbin Pledges Fight to Stop Efforts by GOP to Repeal New Health Care Legislation
U.S. Senator Dick Durbin says he's prepared to fight, should Republican lawmakers work to repeal health care reform.

Durbin says it will be a hard sell for Republicans to take away health care from their constituents. He says small business owners also wouldn’t be keen on the idea.

"As of the signing of the health care reform bill, literally thousands of businesses across the state of Illinois, small businesses with fewer than 25 employees, are eligible for a tax credit to help pay their health insurance premiums," Durbin said. "This is a blessing for these businesses, many of [which] struggle to pay these premiums. The repealers want to take it away. Good issue to debate, whether you want to take away a tax credit for health insurance from a small business in Illinois as they're recovering in a recession."

Durbin says there are too many good things that health care reform does to justify repealing it. He says Republicans arguments against it don't hold water.
