Kirk to Refund Goldman Sachs Contributions
CHICAGO (AP) -- Republican Senate candidate Mark Kirk says he will refund campaign donations he has received from Goldman Sachs employees because the investment bank now faces civil fraud charges.

Kirk said Monday he was acting out of an "abundance of caution" by giving back money from his Senate campaign. He says he wants to set an example of ethics for others to follow.

Kirk's Democratic challenger Alexi Giannoulias had called on Kirk to give back money he had collected from the investment bank. Giannoulias and Kirk are locked in a tight race for President Barack Obama's old U.S. Senate seat.

Kirk didn't say how much money he would refund.

The Giannoulias camp says Kirk has accepted $21,600 from Goldman Sachs employees during this Senate election cycle.
