GOP Talks Budget, Legislative Cars
Republicans are ripping apart the governor's newest budget proposal. While Gov. Pat Quinn says he has added $400 million in cuts, Republican senators say while Quinn alleges that, Quinn won’t say where the cuts will be. They also say that Quinn has put back $1.7 billion for schools into his plan. So, according to their math, Quinn is cutting only $200 million.

State Sens. Pam Altoff (R-McHenry), Tim Bivens (R-Dixon), Matt Murphy (R-Palatine), Dan Duffy (R-Lake Barrington), and Chris Lauzen (R-Aurora) spoke to reporters, saying they wanted to explain what they found in Quinn's budget plan.

Murphy also says he'll introduce legislation to cut the fleet of vehicles that are designated to the legislative leaders. This comes in light of the DUI arrest of the son of Senate President John Cullerton (D-Chicago), who was driving his father's Senate vehicle at the time of the arrest. Murphy says he knows getting rid of that fleet would do little to fix the state's $13 billion budget hole, but says it still should be done.
