Would Blago Really Force Obama to Testify?
The Republican candidate for U.S. Senate says a request by former Gov. Rod Blagojevich to compel the testimony of the president in the ex-governor's upcoming corruption trial is not the publicity stunt it appears to be.

"Originally I thought it was a total Blagojevich publicity stunt, and that the federal judge will knock it down," U.S. Rep. Mark S. Kirk (R-Highland Park) says. "But the request had several redactions, but the press easily figured out how to remove the blocks, and when you read the details, there is a bit of a case there."

U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel will determine whether testimony from President Obama is necessary. It is rare for presidents to appear as witnesses, but not unprecedented.

U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) says that he has been subpoenaed in the Blagojevich case, without a specific date, time and place. He says he doesn't know if his testimony will be needed, but if he is asked to appear, he will.
