County Set to Hire Nursing Home Administrator
ORIGINALLY POSTED 6:58am 4/24/10 The Knox County Board is apparently set to hire the next leader of the county owned and operated nursing home.

The agenda for Wednesday night's Knox County Board meeting indicates votes will be taken on both a monthly contract for an interim administrator, and for a permanent administrator for the Knox County Nursing Home.

Current home administrator Marianne Weisen reportedly announced earlier this year her intention to retire from the post, but Weisen never responded to WGIL's request for an interview on the matter.

Knox County Public Information Officer Gary Tomlin says he has no information on who the new administrator might be, since the county board's Nursing Home Committee was legally allowed to discuss the matter at their most recent meeting under closed, executive session rules.

The board Wednesday night will also vote on the expected resignation of County Recorder Paula Monzo. She was arrested on felony theft charges last November for allegedly stealing money from the county's Democratic Party, and is scheduled to make a plea in the case prior to Wednesday night's County Board meeting.

The meeting starts Wednesday night at 5:45 with a public hearing on the county's intention to issue $4 million in bonds for, among other things, expected repairs to the Knox County Courthouse.
