Small Business Day Award Nominations Sought
In recognition of National Small Business Week, an awards luncheon for small businesses will be celebrated at the Kensington on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. The Small Business Day celebration organized by the Entrepreneurship Support Network (ESN) of West Central Illinois will recognize business leaders for their excellence in a variety of categories. Also during the luncheon several new business development programs and resources will be announced.

"We are happy to join the national celebration by recognizing our local business leaders at the awards luncheon," said Cesar Suarez, economic development director for the City of Galesburg and member of the ESN. "The unsung heroes of our community are those that deliver products and services of value and create jobs for area residents," he said.

"Improving the entrepreneurial climate has been a major focus of our collaboration," said Carrie McKillip, from the University of Illinois Extension and member of the ESN collaboration. "Attending, participating, and sponsoring the awards luncheon is an important step toward expressing our appreciation to our business leaders," said McKillip.

Nominations for a variety of awards are being sought and registration for the May 25 celebration is underway. To nominate someone or register yourself for the awards celebration please see attached forms. For additional information contact Carrie McKillip at 309-342-5108 or mckillip@illinois.edu. The Small Business Day
