Ousted Candidate Considering Running for Governor
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Democrat who quit after winning the lieutenant governor nomination in the Illinois Primary is now considering a run for governor as an independent.

During an interview Tuesday on a Chicago radio station (WLS), Scott Lee Cohen said he's weighing his options and will make his decision sometime this week.

Cohen pulled out of the lieutenant governor's race after it became widely known that he'd been accused of abusing his ex-wife and was arrested in 2005 for allegedly holding a knife to his ex-girlfriend's throat.

Cohen says he's "blessed and thankful" for all of the support he's received from voters since then.

To get on the Illinois ballot, Cohen would need to submit 25,000 signatures from registered voters on petitions by June 21st.
