IDOT: "See" Motorcycles
Drivers of cars and trucks are being warned: You must see motorcycles.

The Illinois Department of Transportation has its springtime Start Seeing Motorcycles campaign under way.

"Hundreds of banners will be dispensed in strategic locations throughout the state to get the attention of drivers of other vehicles to watch out for motorcycles," says IDOT regulation and training manager Terry Redman.

Motorcycles are small, their drivers are vulnerable in a crash, and they go faster than you think, the State Police warn. Crash deaths of motorcyclists in Illinois fell from 135 in 2008 to 130 last year -- still 14 percent of all road fatalities.
