Storm Damage in Warren County -- SEND WGIL YOUR PICTURES!
POSTED 6:16pm, UPDATED 11:59pm 4/30/10 Warren County appears to have suffered the most damage by what was a group of quick-moving storms late Friday afternoon.

Authorities in Warren County told the National Weather Service that wind gusts near 65 miles per hour are likely to blame for storm damage at both the Farmland Foods plant in Monmouth, and -- more substantially -- the former Western Stoneware Pottery Barn site at Highway's 34 and 167.

That site now occupies "Metalcrafters." Owner Kim Gough says he was notified by some of his eight employees that the building had been damaged by the storm, and tells WGIL one roof that was built on top of another decades ago was destroyed.

"It was the metal roof that got tore off," Gough said. "The flat roof is still on there, but it's full of holes (from where the metal roof was built on top of it). Now we have water coming down in a lot of places. If there was a way to stop the water getting in the flat roof, then we could potentially operate in some capacity inside."

Metalcrafters did a lot of work restoring cars, and there were several inside the building at the time of the storm -- including one that had just been brought there prior to the storm. Goff and employees said outside of some minor damage, they all appear to be okay.

Meanwhile, there was some roof damage at two parts of the Farmland Foods plant. Officials there declined to be interviewed and were turning people away from their property Friday night, but tell WGIL in a statement that operations were not affected, and that all shifts will operate as normal this weekend.

The winds pushed over a gas pump at the Beck's gas station, damaging a car next to it.

Forecasters say winds uprooted trees both inside and out of Alexis, and what was described as a well-built structure was pulled off its foundation there.

Knox County sustained virtually no damage.
