Cat Nailed to Henry County Utility Pole
GENESEO, Ill. (AP) -- Sheriff's deputies are looking for the person who nailed an injured cat to a utility pole in rural Henry County.

Geneseo resident Andrea Bristol found the gray cat hanging from the pole late Monday afternoon. She says that when she stopped to investigate, she saw that the cat was hanging from a nail through one of its hind paws.

She thought the cat was dead until she heard a faint wheezing noise and then called the Henry County Sheriff's Department. An animal control officer took the cat to Miller Veterinary Service in Atkinson.

Bristol said her neighbor recognized the cat as a stray another neighbor, who recently passed away, used to feed on a regular basis. The cat is microchipped, but efforts to reach the listed owner were unsuccessful.
