SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Families and groups are being encouraged to sign up now to participate in a Civil War medical education day in June.

The popular Civil War Medical Encampment will be June 10-12 at the Old State Capitol Historic Site in Springfield.

The education day on June 10 will allow groups to rotate through different station from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. The stations include military drills, a Civil War doctor and his instruments, artillery, cavalry and comparison of equipment.

The rest of the weekend will be dedicated to issues related to health and medicine during the war.

Groups wanting to reserve space for the June 10 event should call the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency.
