Promotion of Sorts for New Knoxville High School Principal
The new principal of Knoxville High School will likely be promoted from within.

That's according to District 202 Superintendent Stephen Wilder, who confirmed to WGIL via e-mail that the position has been offered to current KHS Assistant Principal Chad Bahnks.

Bahnks, who's also the district's athletic director, would replace Mike Kemmer, who's leaving the district 35 years, the last three of which were spent as principal.

Wilder says the district received 30 applications for the position, six of which were interviewed, and two, including Bahnks, were brought back for final interviews.

Wilder declined to detail specifics of Bahnks' contract, but says those will be revealed when the District 202 board votes on the matter during their regular meeting April 18th.

District records indicate Kemmer currently makes just over $85,000 in salary and benefits.

This clears up both open administrative positions in the district. Tara Bahnks, the wife of Chad Bahnks, was hired last month as principal of Mabel Woolsey Elementary School.
