IL Restarts Loan Program to Boost Economy
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois treasury will resurrect a suspended loan program that joins the state with lending partners to offer low interest rate loans to farmers, small businesses and several other qualified groups.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford says the loan program has been thoroughly vetted through private sector reviews. Rutherford temporarily suspended the program when he took office in January.

People applying for the loans receive a reduced interest rate from the state and a moderate rate from the adjoining lender.

Rutherford says reinstituting the program will lead to job growth and economic
stimulation.
