Kirk Wants Quick End in Libya
(IRN) -- U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) supports Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya, but he wants to ensure a quick resolution to minimize casualties and overall cost.

Kirk, a proponent of scaled-back Department of Defense spending, says the Libyan mission is a $500 million necessity, and there should be money already allocated to pay for it.

"DoD will simply pay for the Libyan operation out of its current budget," says Kirk. "There will be no supplemental request. I think that'll put pressure on other DoD accounts."

Kirk says allied forces should make the conflict "rough and violent" to ensure a quick resolution. With that said, he says it's necessary for NATO and western forces to supply Libyan rebels with ammunition, despite the current arms embargo.

"If we win this war as fast as possible, it will cost less, it will create less turmoil in the Arab world, and it will calm international economies," says Kirk.
