IL Governor Pat Quinn Signs Proclamation for Ex-POWs
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn has signed a proclamation honoring American service men and women who have been imprisoned during war.

Approximately 20 Illinois ex-Prisoners of War and their families attended a ceremony at the Governor's Mansion on Saturday to pay tribute to their service. The ceremony included prayers, several speeches and a military salute.

Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Director Dan Grant said in a statement that these individuals ``endured horrific circumstances that most people can't even imagine.''

The annual event was held in conjunction with National Former Prisoner of War Recognition Day.
