Bank Robberies Declined Slightly in IL in 2010
The number of bank robberies in Illinois dropped slightly last year.

The FBI reports that there were 203 bank robberies statewide in 2010, compared to 231 the year before.

Nationwide numbers also dropped, from 5,546 robberies in 2010 to 5,943 in 2009. The FBI says about $8 million of the $43 million stolen across the country last year was recovered.

Illinois ranked 8th nationwide in the number of robberies.
California led the list with 805, followed by Texas with 464. North Dakota reported just two bank robberies.

Authorities say Fridays were the most common day for bank robberies.
