More District 205 Administration Changes
Three already announced resignations have formally been acted on by the Galesburg School District, but there are some more administrative changes in the offing.

The District-205 Board Monday night voted to accept the resignations of Wes Olson as Galesburg High School North Principal, of Tiffany Springer as Lombard Junior High School Assistant Principal, and Tara Bahnks as Lombard Middle School Dean of Students.

All three have accepted jobs out of the district -- Bahnks will be joining her husband Chad in the Knoxville School District.

But the board last night also accepted the retirement of Maury Lyon at the end of the school year. Lyon has spent the last year as principal of Steele Elementary School. He was principal of both Steels and the Bright Futures Program from 1987 through 1990, before taking on Bright Futures only from then until last school year. He's been with the district since 1985.

Board members also voted to hire Churchill Junior High School Principal Bart Arthur as the next Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.

Arthur, who's been principal since 2005 after coming to the district from Abingdon, will be replacing Joel Estes July first of 2012, who is retiring then.

Also retiring is Evan Massey. Massey will retire in four years as Social Studies Teacher at Galesburg High School, as part of an early retirement incentive.

Officials confirm, though, Massey does not intend on retiring as Galesburg High School varsity girls basketball coach.
