WIU Official Finds Lincoln Note on Office Wall
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) -- For two years Roger Kent paid little attention to the portrait of Abraham Lincoln on his office wall at Western Illinois University. When he did, he found a surprise.

Kent found a note bearing Lincoln's signature on a piece of paper in the portrait's frame. It's worth up to $20,000.

Kent is associate director of the college's TV station. He said in a university news release Wednesday that he dug the portrait out of storage a couple of years ago as an office decoration.

The university said the portrait was among a number of Lincoln-related items used as props by the TV station.

Kent took the signature to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield for authentication. Now he says he'll donate it to the university's archives.
