Week Before Retrial, Blago Plans Statement in Case
CHICAGO (AP) -- Rod Blagojevich is taking his case to the media a week before it goes to court.

A public relations firm representing the ousted Illinois governor says he'll make a three-minute statement outside his Chicago home Wednesday evening. It says he'll address his corruption case but offers no details.

Blagojevich's retrial is scheduled to start in one week. And neither prosecutors nor defense lawyers have given any indication they'd be willing to cut a plea deal that would render a trial unnecessary.

The 54 year old faces 20 charges, including that he sought to sell or trade President Barack Obama's vacated U.S. Senate seat.

He's kept a comparatively low profile in recent months. Before his first trial, he went on a media blitz that many saw as an attempt to influence would-be jurors.
