Energy Grant for Abingdon School District Approved
A project to make parts of Abingdon High School more energy efficient is being given a green light.

The District-217 Board last night learned that their request to the Illinois State Board of Education for a 120-thousand dollar matching grant for energy-efficiency has been has been approved.

Superintendent Tami Roskamp told the board last night that bids will be opened likely next month for the project that will see windows and doors replaced at the school.

The work is expected to be done over the summer and is expected to be complete in time for the new school year.

The board last night also learned that a joint meeting of their board, and the boards of the Avon and Bushnell-Prairie City School Boards will take place next month, at which time they'll vote on whether or not their proposed consolidation will be put on the November, 2012 election ballot.

One of the final meetings of the committee of Ten investigating the consolidation is later this month, at which time some more final reports from sub-committees will be presented, ahead of next month's vote.
