Limits To What Can Be Collected During Clean Up Days
You can get rid of almost any undesired item in your home this week during Galesburg Clean Up days.

But not all types of waste can be picked up by garbage collectors according to city of Galesburg's Associate Planner Julie Main.

"I wanted to mention some things that we don't take, like liquid paint, automotive batteries, propane tanks, demolition waste," said Main. "I already mentioned the concrete chunks, large auto parts too. Motor oil and tires, those cannot be accepted. Several of those items have been banned from Illinois landfills."

A paint recycling program will be provided, however, every third Saturday during the summer months in Galesburg at the Walmart off Seminary Street.

An additional clean up week will also be held later in the year in October.
