WGIL Wins AP "Station of the Year"
WGIL has once again been honored by its peers in Illinois broadcast journalism.

The station won the Illinois Associated Press Broadcasters Association's "Station of the Year" award at the Spring 2011 Illinois News Broadcasters Association Convention at the Holiday Inn in Rock Island.

Also, News Director Will Stevenson won the AP's "Newsfinder of the Year Award."

This is the third consecutive year WGIL has won both awards. "I am thrilled and honored that The AP recognized WGIL once again," Stevenson said. "My thanks to [news reporter] Emily Ford for her hard work, and to the rest of our programming and sales staffs for their support. Thanks especially to our ownership and management for continuing to believe in truly local news and for allowing WGIL to have the staff to do it right."
