Tea Party on Tax Day
(IRN)-It's tax day, so it's time to hear from the Tea Party.

"We cannot allow more spending with greater taxation, wealth redistribution and big brother society," said Norman Davis, 58, of Champaign. "We can't allow that. That's the thing that scares me more than anything else than just big government, is big brother society."

Davis, a substitute teacher, ran against State Representative Naomi Jakobsson (D-Urbana) last fall. He lost, but he says Jakobsson did what she said she'd do.

"She wanted to increase taxes, and she did it," said Davis. "However, I don't believe that that is what the majority of people really wanted."

Davis, who acts as a director of the Champaign chapter of the Tea Party, has been involved with the movement for the last two years.

Paula Derosso, 67, is a retired Rockford resident. "They're saying that we're a bunch of goofballs and that we come and we rally. But we're peaceful. We don't hurt anybody," said Derosso. "They keep saying this is not anything that's going to be around. But it's not going to go away, because it's America. They're coming to speak out about what true American values are, and family values."
