Former News Executive Challenges Media Bias
There might not be as much of a liberal bias in some forms of the national media as you may think.

That's according to Monmouth College Visiting Associate Professor Joe Angotti. The former NBC News executive gave a keynote speech to the Illinois News Broadcasters Association over the weekend, and says outlets like those owned by billionaire Rupert Murdoch including FOX News, are very strong.

"The perception that the liberal guys are still the ones unfairly controlling America's political agenda is, I think, an illusion. And it's not just News Corp that's gaining traction in the conservative media universe, just look at the platform of talk radio, the highest rated talk radio host in the county, in the history of the genre is Rush Limbaugh. He's also the highest paid at $60 million a year."

Angotti says no longer are conservatives what he called "media midgets" and no longer have a disadvantage.

He says, though, while there are plenty of national media members who more often than not show their bias, local news from local television and radio stations do not. And he says that's a good thing.
