Knoxville Superintendent Gets a Raise
He hasn't been on the job a full year just yet, but the superintendent of the Knoxville School District is getting a raise.

The District 202 School Board Monday night voted to give Superintendent Stephen Wilder a $3,000 raise, bringing his salary and benefits package to $141,000 a year.

District 202 board president Robert Bogard tells WGIL the reason for the raise is simple: Wilder has so far done everything that's been asked of him.

"We believe that the work he's doing and getting everything on board with the district, because we hired him for a specific purpose of cleaning up some areas that needed to be cleaned up, but he's well on his way to getting that done."

Bogard says he's so far very satisfied with Wilder, and he believes the people of the district are satisfied with him as well.

The board last night did also formally vote to hire assistant high school principal Chad Bahnks as head principal in the coming year, with a salary of $78,000 on a one year contract.

Wilder says that's part of a chance in policy for the district, but is a part of his personal policy of only hiring administrators on a year to year basis so as to better evaluate their performance.
