Fulton County Man Faces Federal Charges for Drug Death
Federal charges have been filed against a Fulton County man for allegedly providing drugs to a teenager that resulted in her death almost a year ago.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says 38 year old Jeremy Settles of Lewistown was indicted Tuesday in Peoria by a federal grand jury on charges including Conspiracy to Distribute Heroin, and Distribution of Heroin.

Court records, however, aren't immediately available.
Settles was originally arrested in July of last year, suspected of providing heroin to 18-year old Rebecca Chambers of Lewistown in late-June and also injecting her with it. The girl reportedly died days later.

Settles originally faced state Class-X felony charges of Drug-Induced Homicide, but in a news release, Fulton County State's Attorney John Clark says potential enhanced penalties led to his office asking federal prosecutors to take the case over.

If convicted, prosecutors say Settles could face a sentence of 20 years to life in prison on each charge.

It's not known when Settles will next be in court.
