SIU Board of Trustees Chairman Resigns
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) -- Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees chairman Roger Tedrick has sent his resignation letter to Gov. Pat Quinn.

The Southern Illinoisan reports that Tedrick sent the letter on Saturday after serving seven years on the board.

Tedrick is president of Tedrick Insurance in Mount Vernon. He tells the newspaper he has the opportunity to expand his business and feels it's "time for someone else to step up and do the work." He said it's difficult to leave.

SIU President Glenn Poshard says he's sorry that Tedrick is leaving and called him "a remarkable chairman." Board of Trustees vice-chairman Ed Hightower says Tedrick showed leadership "during a tough economy and turbulent times."
