Simon Praised for Expanding Financial Disclosure
CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois' lieutenant governor is earning praise for disclosing financial information about her senior staff.

Sheila Simon's office released the information using streamlined disclosure forms that some say could be a model for the state.

Good government advocates joined Simon at a news conference Thursday. They say the statement of economic interests that government officials around the state file should be changed to provide better information.

Simon's office modeled the disclosure forms for her staff on a form used by federal executive officers and their top ranking employees.

The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform says federal forms routinely provide more detailed information than Illinois requires.

A day earlier, Simon released her 2010 income tax forms. They show her income dropped by nearly one-third last year when she ran for office.
