BNSF Plans to Add Jobs in West Central Illinois
GALESBURG, Ill. (AP) -- BNSF Railway says it plans to add 87 jobs in Galesburg this year as it emerges from the worst of the recession.

During a stop in west-central Illinois on Wednesday, BNSF Vice President Paul Nowicki said the company plans to start work in June to expand its local operation and smooth the flow of rail traffic in the area. Financing for the work includes $45 million in state funding.

Nowicki told The (Galesburg) Register-Mail that the company's recovery from the recession is about 50 to 60 percent complete. He says the rail line is probably a little bit ahead of most of the economy in that regard.
